Australia and specifically Victoria State is welcoming Indian immigrants with a red carpet. This is in contrast with most of the developed world that seeks to close its doors on immigrants. Around 1/3rd of the population of Australia is overseas-born.

Australia was once renowned only with Anglo-Indians looking for overseas immigration. In recent times, it has been attracting a diverse cross-section of Indian immigrants. The population of Indian immigrants increased in Australia by more than 50% during 2011 and 2016. This is as per the census figures, as quoted by the Times of India.

Victoria is the most densely populated State in Australia. It is home to the largest Indian population in the Land Down Under. This is according to the Spokesperson of Visit Victoria. We welcome more students, professionals, businesses, and visitors from India every year, she added.

Visit Victoria has been aggressively wooing the Indians. This is not just to Melbourne but also for many of Victoria’s tourist attractions.

The results are showing. 1.61 lakh Indian visitors arrived in Victoria during April 2017 and June 2018. This is an % 21 artışı over the past corresponding period. The spending by Indians has also increased by 35% as per the estimates of Business Victoria. This surpasses New Zealanders as the second highest overseas high rollers in Victoria for the year ending March 2018.

The Avalon Airport is also scheduled to go international in December 2018 to supplement Tullamarine. It is not much far from Melbourne. The Tourism sector in Victoria is expecting an even large number of arrivals of Indians. CEO of the airport Justin Giddings said that India is among the top 3 markets for tourists to the State.
