Soon, North Bay to begin accepting RNIP applications

North Bay, a city situated at a distance of 291 kilometers from Toronto, is 1 of the 11 communities participating in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot [RNIP] of Canada.

Of the 11 communities participating, 9 are already accepting applications. When the pilot program is launched by North Bay, it will become the 10th community to begin accepting RNIP applications.

Each of the 11 communities that are a part of the RNIP have an allocation of 100 community recommendations in the first year of the Pilot.

North Bay is expected to open for RNIP applications within the coming weeks. As of now, North Bay is not accepting RNIP applications.

As per Al McDonald, the Mayor of the City of North Bay, “With an increasing number of individuals accessing the programs and services offered … I am proud to say that this city has grown beyond just a welcoming community. North Bay is now a leading community of support offering settlement services to new residents from all parts of the worlNS."

A community-driven initiative, the RNIP enables certain specifically selected 11 communities across the 5 provinces of Canada to gain by economic immigration thorugh the creation of an immigration pathway for Canada permanent residence for potential candidates.

The RNIP is targeted at skilled foreign workers that wish to immigrate to Canada. For any candidate to take the RNIP route to Canada PR, there must be the express willingness for settling down in any 1 of the participating communities.

As the Pilot program is community-driven, the participating communities will be taking the initiative for attracting to the community new immigrants or temporary foreign workers already in Canada. Communities participating in the RNIP will also be matching immigration candidates with job opportunities in their local markets.

Keeping the local requirements in view, the RNIP has been specifically designed for connecting foreign workers with employers that are facing labour shortages in the small communities in Canada.

A valid job offer for full-time employment in any of the participating communities will be required. It is only the applicants that secure a community recommendation through the RNIP that might apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada [IRCC] for Canada PR.

To be able to secure a community recommendation, the candidate will be required to fulfil both the deferral requirements as well as those of the specific community. While IRCC requirements for the RNIP are general, the requirements of the communities vary from community to community.
