Canada's New France, Quebec, vowed a new action plan by investing 130 million dollars for the settlement of newcomers.

Quebec’s new immigration minister has announced this to tackle the problem of new immigrants settlement related to their fields. Hence, the new immigrant Minister Jean Boulet has decided to pump $130 million for the settlement of newcomers.

On December 7, 2021, he announced that the provincial government was going to fill the chronic labor shortage by welcoming foreign nationals. The money will be spent for the development of projects like

“Our government is firmly committed to addressing the labor shortage in all regions of Quebec. Immigration is part of a set of solutions to help us get there. For several years, we have too often witnessed cases of professional immigrants, unable to work in their field of expertise, for lack of recognition of their professional skills. This is simply unacceptable, particularly in the current context where the difficulty of recruiting staff affects the growth of our economy and essential public services. With these new measures, immigrants will be able to practice their profession more quickly and will use their skills to serve the prosperity of Quebec," Boulet said in French.

New Action Plan

The new action plan includes action in six primary areas:

1. Finding new talent

Quebec spends some of its funding on to drive the diverse talent pools from different countries.

2. Maintaining for regulatory bodies and professional orders

The regulatory bodies and other orders are encouraged to improve the skills evaluation, develop training, and issues temporary work permits to a few workers in order to practice their profession.

3. Personalized support for immigrants

Provides support services to offer and assist for specific skill recognition measures—persons who have access to services all through the complete immigration process.

4. Funding for refresher training and internships

Immigrants will have access for training, internships from overseas and in Quebec to increase skills recognition.

5. Financial support for skills recognition

Candidates can benefit from specific financial support for refresher training, plus tuition fee exemptions.

6. Support for Quebec employers to evaluate foreign credentials

Quebec employers will have access to an online tool to measure the foreign diploma according to the Quebec school system.

The provincial government is hoping for the success of these plans, resulting in an immigrant settlement in Quebec.

The economic recovery continues in the French Speaking Province and has recorded the lowest unemployment rate in November, as per the results from the federal government Labor Force Survey. The unemployment rate dropped 1.1 percentage in November compared to October 2021.

The province has added 45,500 more jobs which will lower the unemployment rate in the coming months. The figures added will hike the employment for Montreal. Since June 2021, the province started adding 56,000 jobs which decreased the unemployment rate to 4.8 percent, which is 1.6 percent lower compared to October.
