Malaysia student visa application gets faster

1 Gönderen^st of January next year, international students who hope to move to the country of Malaysia for education will not have to be go through the distress that the process doled out previously. The announcement by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said that for quicker approval from January 1^st through Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).

Earlier process needed the students to apply through the university or college which made the process very lengthy. The changes will allow students to apply and acquire the visa within the time limit of 14 days. Minister Jusoh said that the process might report back the visa status to the student much faster than the 14 days. Furthermore, the Malay immigration authorities authorized visas for duration of one year. If the student’s education extended by a few days or months, the student would have to apply for a full one year visa. The new regulations will allow Malay authorities to give the students visas based on the duration of the course. Also, the agency website will allow tracking of their application, which wasn't the case earlier. EMGS has offered a lot of Value Added Services to help students and other immigrants like affordable medical insurance, access to medical facilities and 100s of clinics for domestic medical check-up. To this end, EMGS has also provided an option of a mobile app to keep track of the visa application.

Asians make up about 75% of foreign students while 15% comes from Africa and the rest from the rest of the world. As of October, the count of student immigrants in Malaysia was 113,752. Minister Jusoh expects an increase to 200,000 by the end of 2020 which can contribute to an estimated amount of RM 15.6 billion.
