British Columbia holds the second-largest PNP draw of the year

In the latest draw held on June 30, 2020, British Columbia’s Provincial Nominee Program [BC PNP] has invited 314 immigration candidates through the categories of Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC. Those invited can now apply to the BC PNP for being provincially nominated for Canada's permanent residence.

While the Skills Immigration candidates are only required to be registered with the BC PNP’s Skills Immigration Registration System [SIRS], to receive an invitation through the EEBC category, a candidate will have to register themselves with the federal Express Entry system as well as the SIRS.

A Teknik Pilot draw, the previous BC PNP draw was held on June 23, 2020.

The latest June 30 draw was the largest BC PNP draw to be held since COVID-19 special measures were introduced in Canada on March 18. Earlier, a March 10 BC PNP draw had 332 invitations issued.

British Columbia has the BC Express Entry stream aligned with the federal Express Entry system managing the pool of Canada immigration candidates for 3 main economic immigration categories of – the Federal Skilled Worker Program [FSWP], the Canadian Experience Class [CEC], and the Federal Nitelikli Ticaret Programı [FSTP].

With the additional 600 points, the profile is automatically boosted to the top of the pool, thereby ensuring that they are issued an invitation in the subsequent federal draw.

Since the introduction of the coronavirus special measures in Canada, the focus has shifted towards those candidates that are more likely to already be in Canada as against those currently overseas. From March 18, the federal Express Entry draws have alternated between the CEC and the PNP.

The latest federal draw – Express Entry Draw #154 – invited 3,508 CEC candidates on June 25, 2020.
