Amongst the minority and ethnic groups in the UK British-Indians are best paid

Amongst the minority and black communities in the UK the British-Indians are the best paid as per the statistics of the last three years. They were followed by the British-Chinese community. The average domestic income of white Britons was between 27, 000 pounds to 25, 600 pounds. For the British-Indians the average domestic income was 25, 300 pounds, as quoted by The Hindu. The scenario for many of the UK’s other large ethnic communities is quite dissimilar. The ethnic communities from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Africa earn 35, 34 and 22 percent lesser when compared with the average income of the white Britons.

 

The report on the income of diverse ethnic communities in the UK further elaborated that the income difference between Bangladeshi households and white British households is 44% or 9, 800 pounds. The British-Indians have emerged as the most fairly well paid ethnic minority and black communities in the UK. The report has also cautioned that with the decrease in welfare grants of up to 14 million pounds, the situation would further deteriorate for the other ethnic minority communities. The report has also observed drastic differences between employment rates and patterns of home ownership.

 

The influencing factors included employment rates, inclusive of women. The rate of employment amongst the women of the British-Indians at 60% is well above the average levels of other ethnic minority communities. The rate of employment amongst the men of the British –Indians also remains higher with 80%. It was also reported that amongst the ethnic and black minority communities in the UK the Indian community was least likely to be residing in social housing.
